Restaurant/places to eat in Haven Hotel

The location is superb and the hotel is designed to take full advantage of its position. The views are spectacular. An outstanding feature is the competence, kindness and friendliness of the staff. This is a fantastically managed hotel where everyone works as a team aimed at giving their guests whatever is needed to enjoy their stay to the utmost. I must mention Kiki and Aimee on reception along with Naisy, Maddie and Sam who, individually demonstrated their kindness and happiness at serving guests. There were other staff members who went over and above what was necessary, but I didn’t get their names.

Property building in Haven Hotel

Everything. From walking in, to leaving it was fantastic. The staff were welcoming and helpful on reception. The room, although a bit tired, was a great size and clean. The breakfast was amazing, with great produce and choice. Lewis and Millie worked so hard. Then there was the fabulous pool area, with lovely sun loungers, and as the weather was good, this was a great addition. Neil and Norbert were so friendly and chatted and gave advice, they were fab. We met the owners, who were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return!!

View (from property/room) in Haven Hotel

The initial room given had a shower tray rather than a bath, which was a downer as none of the rooms pictures on the website/promotional pictures for the hotel showed any shower tray in the bathrooms, which makes you assume that all are bath tubs. I was looking forward to a soak the first night when I reached there, so was disappointed. When I informed the staff, they moved me to another room only the next day, but I had to pay the difference in the rates for 1 night. Breakfast was a good spread, but the same for both the days I stayed, no halal options. Some variety/change would have been good. Sadly, the indoor pool was freezing cold (although they said it was heated) and the steam room was out of order, so was the hot tub outside (some pending repairs). Only the sauna room was functional, so it was just a repeat between the cold pool and the hot sauna. This was also disappointing. In short, more than half teh facilities expected was sub par, especially for the high amount spent. Location was as expected and what we chose- landsend, beautiful and sea facing, loved it.

The breakfast was lovely, good choice but the bonus was the excellent location. There are not hotels that are in such a perfect location on the beach with a lovely beach bar by the pool. The pool facility’s outdoor was even better. This hotel is a hidden gem and I will be coming back again and again for as long as I can.

Sea view in Haven Hotel

The room had an ensuite. The bed was lovely and comfortable, as well as being very large. The view from the room was amazing. I could sit on the balcony for hours just chilling with a glass or two. The hotel itself is old and it is lovingly cared for. They have kept a lot of old features in the hotel which reminds you of a time past. The view from the bar, restaurant and breakfast area's, again, are superb. The check in and out was made very straight forward and demonstrated good knowledge and experience.

I suffer quite severely from arthritis but I can climb stairs one at a time. I checked with Haven Hotel twice in writing before I came and I was told in writing that I would have a room round the corner from the top of the stairs.  When my husband and I arrived, the receptionist had allocated us rooms which were some distance from the stairs.  i.e. along long corridors with little steps up and down at various places. When I expressed concern and told her about the  assurances received, she just shrugged her shoulders.  The soap and other toiletries in the room smelt of toilet cleaner. It is "help yourself" to a breakfast which is OK but not great. I could not drink the coffee (from a machine): it was too awful.  But, despite this, we had a wonderful time! All of the staff (apart from the receptionist) were kind and helpful. Both the  indoor and outdoor pools were open and they were great. I could not use the shower in my room because I could not climb into the bath but there is a lovely hot shower next to the indoor pool. I kept trips to my room to a minimum: I stayed  downstairs and enjoyed the fabulous views with a coffee or a long drink purchased at the bar. And I gradually relaxed as I watched all sorts of boats coming in and out of the harbour. Lots of interesting places to visit from the hotel too (with a mobility scooter in the back of the car).

Glorious location overlooking the entrance to Poole harbour. Magnificent scenery and constant interest when looking out of the restaurant window or sitting on the terrace. Local bus service to Studland, Swanage, Bournemouth and Poole accessed from very near by with a direct link to Bournemouth railway station. Staff very helpful and attentive.

The location is perfect and if you get a sea view even better. We had a lovely relaxing couple of days, the British weather was kind, some nice warm sunshine. The indoor pool was ok, and the outside was lovely and warm. All the staff were very good, professional and friendly. We would certainly return and recommend the Haven to our friends.
